Asian Student Orientation
Welcome!
We are looking forward to your arrival on campus this fall and would like to extend an invitation for you to participate in Grand Valley State University’s Asian Student Orientation program. This three-day orientation is designed especially for students that identify as Asian - to welcome you to campus, help you connect with fellow students, faculty and staff and navigate the many campus and community resources available to you. It takes place prior to Transitions: New Student Orientation.
2022 Orientation Schedule
Sunday, August 21, 2022
8:30 a.m – 9:30 a.m. Priority Move-In for Laker Connections/Asian Student Orientation
Students will be allowed to move in past 9:30 a.m. but please expect lines to be long as the rest of campus will be moving in that day as well.
*If you do not plan to live on-campus please join us at our Asian Student Orientation Welcome Reception at 1:00 p.m.
9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. General Move-in for GVSU students
1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Student and Family Welcome Reception
Learn about the Asian Student Achievement Program (ASAP), our community, and what to expect from our program. Meet other students and Asian Faculty and Staff at GVSU. Lunch will be provided.

3:00 p.m. Good-Bye (parents/guardians/families depart)
4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Office of Multicultural Affairs Welcome Kickoff
All Laker Connections students (Laker Familia, Black Excellence, Mno'chigewin and Asian Student Achievement Program) students are invited to attend a joint reception. Student organizations of color resource fair.

12:00 p.m. Visit Bookstore and Classrooms; Lunch
Students are encouraged to use this time to visit the bookstore, find classrooms, and tour the campus with ASAP Peer Mentors and Orientation Leaders
