Grand Valley's Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Human-Centered Computing (HCC) combines design thinking, user experience, and software development skills, preparing students to create innovative solutions that enhance human-technology interactions. Students will learn creative problem-solving, usability evaluation, and prototyping, while exploring technologies like AI and AR/VR through hands-on projects.
The curriculum covers a breadth of topics, including AR/VR Development and Design, Human AI Interaction, User Experience Research, Foundations in Social Computing, User Designing for Creative Learning Experience, and Software Professional Development for Human Subjects Research.
Pursuing Human-Centered Computing at GVSU has many advantages. The need for human-centered computing graduates in the tech industry has been on the rise. With the rapid advancements in Artificial Intelligence and innovations in Augmented and Virtual Reality there is significant demand for developing technology using human-centered approaches to solve real-world problems. GVSU is well-positioned to address this need with faculty who are HCC specialized, and a commitment to interdisciplinary work across the institution. Hands-on learning opportunities in the form of projects and internships are a crucial part of the curriculum.
