The D. J. Angus serves researchers and educational groups from her berth at Harbor Island in Grand Haven, Michigan. The vessel was built and endowed in 1985 and launched in 1986.

Sampling areas include the Grand River, Spring Lake, and Lake Michigan. The D. J. Angus has served groups from 28 counties in Michigan and beyond.
