  • Victoria Veenstra, Associate Professor
Professor Victoria Veenstra is a photographic artist who employs a variety of cameras to capture the daily vignettes of life, tales from the morning ritual of coffee to the landscapes of the daily commute. Her current work includes color pinhole images from "Roadsides" - a series of images found in the boundary area between the road and the inhabited land. Her work is widely exhibited both nationally and internationally. She has taught all levels of photography at the University of Michigan, Center for Creative Studies and University of Toledo as well as workshops in New York City. (M.F.A. & B.F.A. University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.) veenstrv@gvsu.edu
  • Stafford Smith, Assistant Professor
Much of Stafford Smith's work revolves around the family and interpersonal relationships within it. In earlier work, he explored the hidden dynamics, tensions and frustrations lurking beneath the surface. His latest project involves an examination of American families in the early 21st century. Entitled "The Family Portrait Project," this latest body of work seeks to redefine the family portrait and deal with the concept of the photograph as a document of proof.  Stafford Smith got his BA at Wesleyan University in printmaking, and after a long hiatus in broadcast television, he returned to art and received his MFA from Cornell University in Photography in 2004.  (B.A. Printmaking, Wesleyan University; M.F.A. Photography, Cornell University). www.staffordsmith.net
