![]() Morgan Anderson Morgan graduated from Grand Valley State University in 1996 with a major in photography from the School of Communications. While attending GVSU, he worked part-time in a camera store and also as a freelance photographer doing commercial and editorial photography. Some of his freelance clients include Johnson Controls, Inc., the Grand Rapids Press, Woodland Realty, and several retail stores. Upon graduating, Morgan was offered a full-time photographer position at Johnson Controls, Inc., and within a year was promoted to head photographer in charge of directing style and executing projects for the global automotive interiors manufacturer. Since 2001, Morgan has worked for MOVE Communications in Ann Arbor, a marketing agency that produces brochures, trade show displays, web sites, TV commercials, corporate position videos and other promotional materials. For a great deal of the work he acts as a stylist, art director and coordinator as well as a photographer, which he enjoys because of the wide creative latitude to conceive and execute in a way to best fit client's needs. On larger projects, Morgan works collaboratively with an art director or designer, and he is also involved in a lot of commercial photography. "Commercial photography is a wonderful way to sharpen technical skills. My sense of lighting is also largely a result of studio experience. It has also taught me to be disciplined creatively. And, of course, it is always rewarding to hear from a client who is impressed with the work I've done for them." Morgan has participated in several Fine Art exhibitions of his work, which include mostly abstract landscapes. His personal interest is in the structure of things and the way we perceive them, and he tends to make photographs that are more about the relationships of elements than the elements themselves. Morgan and his wife of one year, Jennifer Retford, reside in Ann Arbor with their two dogs and two cats. They enjoy doing outdoor activities like camping, jogging, biking, and maintaining a garden in the summertime. |
