![]() John Willette John Graduated from Grand Valley State in 1984 as a charter member of the School of Communications. During his time at Grand Valley he worked at WGVU and performed a variety of tasks at the TV station, from Set Design and construction, graphic design, remote videographer, as well as a variety of studio crew positions. He was also a founding father in the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity at GVSU. After College he spent one year at WZZM TV-13 as studio/field videographer and graphics operator. The following six years were spent at Emerald City as Animation Director, where he developed his passion for computer animation on the Dubner CGB-2, Cubicomp Picturemaker, and Vertigo 3D. In 1991 he co-founded Travelling Pictures Animation Company, (TPAC) where he and partner David Burton grew the company from one Silicone Graphics Workstation, to a 30 plus computer shop employing more than 10 people. Side Effects Prisms and Houdini were the main 3D programs used and John's interest in Visual Effects lead him to work on a variety of interesting and challenging projects such as national commercials for Hollywood Effects companies like Digital Domain and A52 as well as the Motion Pictures What Lies Beneath and CastAway for Sony Pictures Imageworks. After 10 years in business, John successfully merged his company with GTN, a large Post Production facility in the Detroit area where he is currently employed as VFX Supervisor. During the last 3 years at GTN, John has had the opportunity to work on many national commercials, digital vehicles for Chrysler and Ford, as well as the Motion Pictures Gothika and Looney Tunes - Back in Action. John and his wife Karen are the proud parents of five children and his oldest Son Nick is currently a freshman at GVSU. |
