Authentic assessments offer a powerful approach to evaluating students' understanding and skills by simulating real-world scenarios. By engaging students in tasks that mirror the challenges they might face in their future careers or daily lives, authentic assessments not only evaluate their knowledge but also encourage deeper learning and skill development. In this interactive in-person workshop, a joint program of eLearning Technologies and Pew FTLC, we will discuss what makes an assessment “authentic” and how to design those assessments so that students can demonstrate their understanding in ways that are relevant and meaningful to them, while also giving educators valuable insights into their students' progress and areas for improvement.
