Spring 2024 Personnel Portfolio Workshop (April 29 - May 31, 2024) -- (Virtual/Online with Optional In-Person Writing Days)

This workshop is designed to support faculty members preparing for any personnel review in 2024-25: pre-tenure review, tenure, or promotion. Working with an assigned faculty mentor and a small group of peers, participants will compose their Personal/Reflective Statement and as time permits, prepare other supporting materials for their portfolio in accordance with their college and unit personnel policies.

This multi-week writing-intensive workshop incorporates virtual large group informational meetings, virtual or in-person one-on-one meetings with your assigned mentor in which you will receive individualized feedback, virtual or in-person small group meetings in which you will give and receive peer feedback, two optional in-person writing days, and self-study. 

Participants are expected to:

  1. Devote 4 hours every week to meet with the large group, one-on-one with your assigned mentor, and with a small group of colleagues;   
  2. Read assigned materials;
  3. Set aside 5-6 hours per week to compose and submit drafts for feedback, offer peer feedback to a small group of colleagues, and compile evidence for your portfolio.  This work could likely l culminate in a complete working draft of the Personal/Reflective Statement by the end of the workshop.

Participants will receive individualized feedback on submitted drafts from their assigned faculty mentor throughout the workshop.

Participants are expected to:

  1. Devote two hours weekly (Fridays 1-3pm) to meet remotely with the larger group and your assigned mentor; 
  2. Read assigned materials;
  3. Set aside 4-5 hours per week to compose drafts and compile evidence for your portfolio; drafts will be submitted weekly for feedback culminating with a complete working draft of the personal statement by the end of the workshop.

Working with an assigned faculty mentor and a small group of peers, participants will compose their personal/reflective statement and as time permits, prepare other supporting materials for their portfolio in accordance with their college and unit personnel policies.

This workshop is designed to support faculty members preparing for a pre-tenure or tenure personnel review in 2020-21.  Working with an assigned faculty mentor, participants will compose their Personal/Reflective Statement and as time permits, prepare other supporting materials for their portfolio in accordance with their college and unit personnel policies.

This multi-week writing-intensive workshop incorporates self-study, weekly phone or video meetings with your mentor, writing time, and optional weekly supplemental support/information sessions. Participants will receive individualized feedback on submitted drafts from their assigned faculty mentor throughout the workshop.

Participants are expected to:

  1. Devote up to two hours weekly to meet remotely as a group with workshop mentors and participants (Fridays, 1–3 p.m.);

FALL 2019 PERSONNEL PORTFOLIO WORKSHOP

This multi-day workshop is designed to support faculty members preparing for a Winter 2020 personnel review: pre-tenure, tenure and/or promotion.  Working closely with faculty mentors and peers, participants will compose their Personal/Reflective statement and, as time permits, prepare supporting materials for the portfolio in accordance with their college and unit personnel policies.

The workshop begins with a 2-day intensive experience and spreads over multiple weeks, incorporating group and individual meetings as well as peer feedback.  Participants receive support and individualized feedback from their assigned faculty mentor throughout the workshop.

Participants are expected to:

  1. have the ability to attend all workshop group meetings
  2. meet one-on-one with their assigned mentor (at a mutually convenient scheduled time between 10/15—10/31);
  3. set aside at least 10—15 hours in their schedules during the three-week period for writing and compiling portfolio materials, as drafts of work will be shared and discussed with peers.

2019 Summer Personnel Portfolio Workshop

This 5-day workshop is designed to support faculty members preparing for any personnel review in 2019-2020: pre-tenure, tenure, or promotions. Working closely with faculty mentors, participants will compose their Personal/Reflective Statement and as time permits, prepare other supporting materials for their portfolio in accordance with their college and unit personnel policies.

This intensive, weeklong workshop incorporates group and individual meetings, peer feedback, and writing time. Participants receive support and individualized feedback from their assigned faculty mentor throughout the workshop.

Participants are expected to:

  1. attend all workshop group meetings scheduled for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings (9 a.m.—1 p.m.—lunch provided);
  2. meet one-on-one with their assigned mentor and peer groups (Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 1 p.m.—3:30 p.m.);
  3. set aside at least 12—15 hours in their schedules (Tuesday and Thursday are scheduled as writing days) to compose drafts of work that will be shared and discussed with peers.

2018 Personnel Portfolio Workshop

This 5-day workshop is designed to support faculty members preparing for any personnel review: pre-tenure, tenure, or promotion. Working closely with faculty mentors, participants will compose their Personal/Reflective Statement and as time permits, prepare other supporting materials for the portfolio in accordance with their college and unit personnel policies.

This intensive, weeklong workshop incorporates group and individual meetings, peer feedback, and writing time.  Participants need to be available for face-to-face meetings on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings (lunch provided) to discuss different components of the personnel portfolio. No meetings are scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday to allow space for writing and compiling portfolio materials.  Participants receive support and individualized feedback from their assigned faculty mentor throughout the week and should expect to spend at least 12-15 hours writing their personal personnel statements.

2017 Fall Personnel Portfolio Three-Day Workshop

Please Note: This is a three-day workshop (October 27, November 10, December 1) and participants are required to attend all three days, despite there only being one session listed on Sprout.  For more information, contact Kathryn Stieler ([email protected]).

This three-day workshop offered during the Fall Semester is for faculty who are preparing for pre-tenure and tenure reviews or for promotion. The workshop will introduce national benchmarking approaches to portfolio construction and will pair participants with a faculty mentor to assist them in composing their Integrative/Reflective Statement and gathering supporting materials for the portfolio in accordance with their college and unit personnel policies. The workshop will allow faculty time to reflect individually and as a group on one’s work in teaching/professional effectiveness, scholarship/creative activity, and service. In addition to the designated meeting times (six hours), participants will be invited to submit writing drafts to their mentor on November 3 and 17.

Portfolio Preparation Workshop for Affiliate Faculty

This workshop is designed to support affiliate faculty who are preparing for a review and/or promotion to senior affiliate status. participants will compose their Integrative/Reflective Statement on Teaching and prepare supporting materials for the portfolio in accordance with their college and unit personnel policies. The workshop will include time for self and group reflection as well as peer feedback.
