2017 Fall Personnel Portfolio Three-Day Workshop

Please Note: This is a three-day workshop (November 4, November 18, December 2) and participants are required to attend all three days, despite there only being one session listed on Sprout.  For more information, contact Kathryn Stieler (stielerk@gvsu.edu).

This three-day workshop offered during the Fall Semester is for faculty who are preparing for pre-tenure and tenure reviews or for promotion. The workshop will introduce national benchmarking approaches to portfolio construction and will pair participants with a faculty mentor to assist them in composing their Integrative/Reflective Statement and gathering supporting materials for the portfolio in accordance with their college and unit personnel policies. The workshop will allow faculty time to reflect individually and as a group on one’s work in teaching/professional effectiveness, scholarship/creative activity, and service. In addition to the designated meeting times (six hours), participants will be invited to submit writing drafts to their mentor on November 3 and 17.

2018 Personnel Portfolio Workshop

This 5-day workshop is for faculty who are preparing for pre-tenure and tenure reviews, or for promotion. Working closely with faculty mentors, participants will compose their Integrative/Reflective Statement and prepare other supporting materials for the portfolio in accordance with their college and unit personnel policies. Workshop mentors recommend that participants do not teach at the same time that they participate in this workshop. Participants usually devote at least 12-15 hours during the week to work on their portfolios.

“The workshop is an intensive weeklong event, and we meet as a group on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning (with lunch provided). Participants spend the majority of their time writing their integrative statements with their assigned mentor, which is done online and in person, depending on schedules and availability.” For more information contact Kathryn Stieler (stielerk@gvsu.edu).

Portfolio Preparation Workshop for Affiliate Faculty

This workshop is not scheduled at this time. Contact Kathryn Stieler (stielerk@gvsu.edu) to express interest. 

This workshop is designed to support affiliate faculty who are preparing for a review and/or promotion to senior affiliate status. participants will compose their Integrative/Reflective Statement on Teaching and prepare supporting materials for the portfolio in accordance with their college and unit personnel policies. The workshop will include time for self and group reflection as well as peer feedback.
