Enrolling in the right classes, prepping for tests, volunteering, getting good grades, and managing your time effectively are just some of the tasks you're going to undertake as a student on the path to college.

But we're here to guide and support you through the services we offer and a variety of other opportunities!

What to expect as a student

Depending on your grade, learn what specific skills and areas of support you can expect during the academic year as a TRIO UB Grand Rapids student.

  • Attend the UB College Preparatory Skills class if schedule allows
  • Follow a college-preparatory curriculum
  • Participate in weekly tutoring
  • Volunteer with UB at community events
  • Participate in cultural and/or academic events organized by UB
  • Attend the UB Service Learning class if schedule allows
  • Follow a college-preparatory curriculum
  • Participate in weekly tutoring
  • Volunteer with UB at community events
  • Participate in cultural and/or academic events organized by UB
  • Attend the UB SAT Prep class if schedule allows
  • Follow a college-preparatory curriculum
  • Participate in weekly tutoring
  • Volunteer with UB at community events
  • Participate in cultural and/or academic events organized by UB
  • Tour colleges and/or universities
  • Attend the UB College Readiness class if schedule allows 
  • Follow a college-preparatory curriculum
  • Participate in weekly tutoring
  • Volunteer with UB at community events
  • Participate in cultural and/or academic events organized by UB
  • Tour colleges and/or universities
  • Complete all necessary steps for college acceptance
  • Apply for scholarships and submit college applications
  • Complete financial aid (FAFSA) materials 
  • Work with UB staff to make final college or university selection
