Meet the Staff Members of the Month for February!
Beth McLaughlin is majoring in International Relations and Biochemistry. She tutors a variety of chemistry courses.
We Have Two Tutors of the Month for February!
"(Beth)She is phenomenal as a tutor and a person. It’s hard to put it in just a sentence or two; she is a great listener, tries to accommodate to student’s learning styles (and does it so effectively), is open minded, understanding, shows empathy but also sets firm expectations for success, builds great bonds with tutees. I love having her as my tutor."
"Elliot has always been very response to any questions I have and does an amazing job breaking down complicated Japanese language grammar patterns! She also helps me calm down by creating a super chill learning environment, which helps a lot since I have horrible anxiety."
Elliott is an International Relations major and tutors Japanese.
Aidan is an English major, with a Secondary teaching concentration and works in our Reading Center.
Laura is a Psychology major and an SLA facilitator for STA 215.
"Laura is very supportive of her students and clearly wants everyone to succeed!"
Ayron is our Front Desk student assistant. He is majoring in Multimedia Journalism.
Here's What Students Say About Tutoring
"The most valuable thing I received from the Tutoring center was someone having my back. I was so stressed and worried I was not going to pass my class, but once I started with my tutor my whole semester turned around. I am so thankful!"
"I have worked with Rachel, Sarah, Stephanie, and Beth. I grew fond of my tutors very quickly because they created a safe and interactive environment since the first day I met them. They listened attentively and really helped using how I learned best which was utilizing the whiteboard and drawing things out. They have never made me feel dumb or embarrassed about what I didn’t know as well as the pace that I was learning. They explain everything so clearly. I don’t know what I would have done without them, they’re super awesome in every way!!"
"Working with Elias was awesome :) He was very understanding of how far behind I was due to missing classes and helped reassure me. He was also very knowledgeable in CHM 115 and was more than willing to explain different subjects in a way I understood them best."
