Professor Buday’s areas of specialization are natural resource sociology and environmental movements. Buday’s research examines community-based efforts to protect natural resources, including citizen mobilization concerning oil and gas development, municipal water conservation programs, and equitable access to outdoor recreation, among other topics. Current projects work to assist community partners concerned with water resources in West Michigan, bringing the resources at GVSU to bear on pressing local problems while providing applied research experience for students.
