Current Students

PCEC Project Day wouldn't be a success without you and your hard work all semester long. PCEC Project Day is held on the last Thursday of each fall and winter semester. It is held from 9 am to 11am in the Shape Corp. Innovation Design Center located on the PEW Campus in downtown Grand Rapids, MI. There will be high school students interacting with your project and they will be voting on the best project of the day.

Preparing for PCEC Project Day

The key to a successful presentation is the appearance of the poster and the quality of work you completed. You'll be completing the work in your classes or by completing your own research, but below are links to examples of posters that previous students completed here at GVSU.

The three poster examples are research, computing, and blank research posters.

FAQs for Current Students

This is a great time to build your resume and portfolio. At PCEC Project Day, you will increase your public speaking skills, and network with faculty, staff, students, local high school students, and industry sponsors. You will not want to miss this great opportunity! PCEC Project Day happens the last Thursday of end of the Fall and Winter semesters.

The projects that are submitted tend to be course projects, senior projects, sponsored research, startups, and faculty/student projects. Your project must have a PCEC faculty/staff sponsoring your project submission.

PCEC staff and volunteers will be present to help presenters get settled. Please find the information table for PCEC Project Day presenters inside the IDC by the Solar Car cage.  You do not need to check in with anyone, but there are materials there if you need them.

Materials provided by PCEC:

  1. Easels, trifold boards, and binder clips to support your poster.
  2. Monitors can be checked out at Lab Support (near the Solar Car cage). Please ensure you registered for a monitor on the Registration form.
  3. Name tags with all presenter names are on the table assigned to you. Blank name tags are available if needed on the information table.
  4. Goody bags are provided for all presenters near the Solar Car cage.

Business casual is always appropriate. GV gear is encouraged, too.

Greater Grand Rapids area 9th through 12th-grade students and their teachers attend. We have sponsors, faculty, staff, and community members who also attend to see and celebrate your project. Please pull them into your projects and talk to them about your research/project. You'll want to ask them if they have questions about your project, major, GVSU, and anything else that may come to mind. Many of these students are starting to consider colleges and careers so they will be soaking in all information.

If you have a GVSU Student Commuter parking permit or an Allendale Resident parking permit, you can park in the DeVos Parking Garage located on Pearl Street. If you do NOT have a permit to park on campus, there are several pay-to-park areas on the street or in the lot near Starbucks. Please note that GVSU enforces parking in the IDC parking lot in front of the main entrance which is only for visitors and service vehicles. For a map of the PEW campus, please see the campus map
