MIPERC Health Expo

Where:  Grand River Room, Kirkhof Center, GVSU Allendale Campus

Health Expo Theme:  8 Dimensions of Student Wellness

Target Population:  College Students

Purpose:  To create an interprofessional service-learning experience for students in health-related academic programs

Objectives:  

  1. Provide an opportunity for health professional students from across educational institutions to work in interprofessional teams to produce health specific educational information to be publicly shared with health expo participants
  2. Connect health expo participants with existing health-related resources in the community
  3. Arrange for the opportunity for health expo participants to learn about health, wellness and the roles specific health professions provide in healthcare

Design:  

The health expo will be held in a well-traveled facility.  Health expo attendees will be given a survey they must complete and submit in order to be eligible for the health expo door prize drawings.  The IPE student teams will work throughout winter semester 2018 to create an educational health exposition: booth, poster, demonstration, etc. based on a relevant college student health topic.  

Student participation in the 2018 Health Expo is worth 10 hours of service learning applicable to the Student IPE Certificate.

Community vendors, student organizations/clubs, and each IPE student team will have one six foot table and table cloth provided.  Each IPE student team will be given an easel to display their team poster.
