Due to the Staying Safe order, the University Libraries is open for individual study or for groups not greater than four people. Strict adherence to preventive measures is required, including the wearing of face coverings and maintaining 6 feet of distance from others in the library at all times.
Frey Foundation Learning Center
In the Fall semester, CHS 490 is open for student use, but unstaffed. CHS 290 is closed. The University Libraries recommends social distancing when possible by taking advantage of our online services.
Located in the Cook-DeVos Center for Health Sciences (CHS) in the heart of Grand Rapids' Medical Mile, the Frey Foundation Learning Center, also known as the health sciences library, serves the Kirkhof College of Nursing and College of Health Professions programs.
Second & Fourth Floors
The Frey Foundation Learning Center is located on the second (Room 290) and fourth (room 490) floors of the CHS.
290 CHS has the computers, a variety of comfortable chairs, tables, movable dry erase boards, library service desk, library collection, and printer/photocopier/scanner/fax Xerox machine. 290 is closed for Fall semester 2020.
490 CHS has the librarian offices, a variety of comfortable chairs, tables, and movable dry erase boards. 490 is open for student use but will be unstaffed for Fall semester 2020.
CHS 290 - Closed for Fall Semester
The second floor location (290 CHS) contains the most current ten years of print books, print journals not available online, and DVDs/videos supporting GVSU’s health science and nursing programs. Nursing theses and health profession program graduate projects are also located in 290 CHS. Course reserves, document delivery, laptop computers, and headphones can be obtained at the service desk located here.
CHS 490 - Open for student use, but unstaffed
The fourth floor location (490 CHS) has areas for group work and also houses librarian offices.
The Frey Foundation Learning Center supports GVSU’s programs in Allied Health Sciences, Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant studies, Physical Therapy, Public Health, Radiologic and Imaging Sciences, Speech Language Pathology, Clinical Dietetics, and Recreational Therapy. The most current ten years of books and current three years of journals that are not available online are accessible in 290 CHS. Older books and print journals are housed in the Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS) at the Steelcase or Mary Idema Pew Libraries. They may be requested via the library’s online catalog and delivered to any GVSU library location.

Located in CHS on the northeast corner of Michigan N.E. and Lafayette N.E., just east of Spectrum Health's Butterworth campus (#8 on the campus map). Parking at the CHS for faculty, staff, and guests is by permit only. Additional parking, including metered parking, is available in the GVSU Prospect lot just East of the building.
