The K-12 Connect Targeted Learning program offers prescriptive tutoring for students in specialized areas of learning. Currently, Targeted Learning encompasses two distinct programs, Targeted Reading Tutoring (TRT) and the Targeted Literacy Challenge (TLC). Learn more about each program below.
The Targeted Learning program is also in the process of developing Targeted Writing Tutoring and Targeted Math Tutoring.
Targeted Reading Tutoring (TRT)
The Targeted Reading Tutoring (TRT) program provides virtual live 1:1 structured tutoring to support 1st-8th grade students one or more years behind in reading. TRT is NOT a new curriculum, but instead aligns with schools' existing reading curriculum. TRT provides students a consistent tutor trained in word recognition, sound manipulation, fluency, and comprehension strategies who works with them 3 times a week to practice and improve their reading engagement, confidence, and stamina.
Targeted Reading Tutoring supports MTSS Tier 2 and Tier 3 students.
1:1 tutoring has a structure of three sessions per week, with each session 45 minutes in length. Tutoring can take place any time during the school day or after school.
TRT is designed to support 1st-8th grade students in their reading development.
Targeted Literacy Challenge (TLC)
The Targeted Literacy Challenge (TLC) program provides virtual live 1:1 or 2:1 structured tutoring to support 1st-8th grade students reading at or one year behind grade level. Students meet twice a week for one hour each session with their tutor to accelerate their reading and writing skills.
Targeted Literacy Challenge (TLC) supports MTSS Tier 1 and Tier 2 students.
2:1 tutoring has a structure of two sessions per week, with each session 60 minutes in length. Tutoring can take place any time during the school day or after school.
TLC accelerates 1st-8th grade students' literacy skills in reading and writing.
