Zoom Updates October 2021

New Updates to Zoom Rooms

In-Meeting Features

  • Breakout rooms management: Meeting hosts can use the features of breakout rooms with a Zoom Rooms controller or touch screen. This feature is available for Windows, Mac, Appliances, iOS zrc, Android zrc, and ZP Appliances.
  • Smart Gallery: Multi-stream view displays multiple video feeds from up to three different cameras in a single conference room. The cameras focus more closely on groups of participants and show people more clearly to remote attendees. This feature is in public beta and is available for Windows and Mac.
  • Focus Mode: Enabled by account administrators via the web portal, Focus Mode allows only the host to see participants’ videos or profile pictures when the video is off. Additionally, only hosts can view participant screen sharing, switch between multiple shared screens, and allow participants to view others’ shared screens. This feature is available for Windows, Mac, Appliances, iOS zrc, Android zrc, and ZP appliances.

You can read more about new Zoom Rooms features on the Zoom blog and in our release notes.

New Updates To Zoom Phone

Administrator Features

  • Prompt for emergency address:  If the admin has enabled nomadic emergency services and personal locations or allowed users to manage their emergency address, users will receive prompts to confirm or update their emergency addresses until they do so.
  • SMS Dashboard: Account owners and admins can view SMS usage and adoption metrics using the Zoom Phone Dashboard. Metrics include the number of SMS-enabled users, number of SMS sent/received, and number of team SMS messages.

Device Features

  • CSV export for keys and positions: Account owners and admins can import a CSV file to specify the keys and positions for phone users and common area phones. They can also export the current keys and positions. This feature allows admins to create a CSV template for keys and positions, then import it to several phone users or common area phones instead of manually setting each user’s line keys and positions. Phone users can also import a CSV file to specify the keys and positions of their desk phones.

Updates to Zoom Billing Methods for US-Based Accounts with USD Currency

  • ACH Payments: ACH payments can now be used as a payment method. ACH payments are a convenient option for customers who pay Zoom by check or wire transfer, as customers can continue to pay this way without coordinating with their banks. Additionally, ACH enables you to save your payment method through your invoice portal for a more seamless experience for customers on net terms. You can set ACH as your account’s payment method via the Zoom Web Portal under Account Management > Billing > Billing Information.
