Zoom Updates November 2023

Zoom Web Updates

  • Added Quick Recap section to Meeting Summary with AI Companion - The Meeting Summary with AI Companion sent to your email includes a brief recap of the summary. This is the first section of the emailed summary, allowing you to quickly review before reading more detail. This will also be available soon for meeting summaries accessed through the web portal and a meeting’s dedicated group chat.
  • Swedish language support - As part of our ongoing efforts to better serve our customers, our Localization Team is excited to announce that our platform, website and support articles are now available in the Swedish language. Want to change your language preference? Simply right click on the Zoom app, select “Switch Languages” and choose Svenska.
  • Smart Recording with AI Companion enhancement: Meeting Coach - Hosts can get even more information from their cloud recordings by having AI Companion analyze key meeting and conversation factors. Analytics on your talk speed, talk-listen ratio, longest spiel (or monologue), filler word usage, and patience are accessible when viewing the cloud recording. This is controlled at the Account, Group, and User level, as a sub-setting under the Smart Recording with AI Companion setting.

Zoom Client Updates

  • Expanded language support for AI Companion questions - Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS - In addition to English, the following languages are available, in preview, when asking questions with AI Companion: Spanish, Japanese, French, German, Portuguese, Chinese, and Italian. Twenty-five additional languages will be available in preview soon. Meeting participants should ensure their chosen speaking language for captions matches the language they are speaking in the meeting. This will not only apply to their speaking language setting for captioning, but also improve the quality of the generated transcript for AI Companion questions.
  • Upcoming end of support for macOS 10.12 and below - macOS - This is the last planned release to support macOS EI Capitan (10.11) and Sierra (10.12). With next month’s planned 5.17.0 release, macOS users will need to upgrade to 10.13 or higher to continue to receive additional Zoom app updates.
  • AI Companion language support extended to 33 languages - Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS - Meeting participants can speak in one of 33 languages and have their portion understood and transcribed by AI Companion for use answering questions about the current meeting or as part of the meeting summary. English is used by default if participants have not yet chosen a speaking language for automated captions, and if a language mismatch is detected, they will be prompted to confirm their current speaking language. Ensuring the correct spoken language is chosen improves the quality of the generated transcript for AI Companion questions.

Zoom Phone Updates

  • SMS logging with the Microsoft Dynamics integration - Account owners and admins using the Microsoft Dynamics integration can enable the Auto Log SMS setting to record SMS conversations and allow their users to access them as required. Users can review the phone number, contact name, date, time, and content of each SMS conversation. Users can also manually sync to save their SMS if they are not already saved.
  • Zoom Phone integration with Zendesk - Account owners and admins can allow their users to integrate Zoom Phone with Zendesk, letting them access Zoom Phone functionalities directly within Zendesk. Admins will need to set up and configure the integration prior to their users being able to use it. Users will then be able to make and receive calls, send SMS, and use voicemail while working on a case in Zendesk.

Zoom Events Updates

  • Use Zoom Meeting code to join event sessions on Zoom Rooms - Attendees can join Zoom Events meeting and webinar sessions on Zoom Rooms using a meeting ID and code. Attendees will receive their code in their Zoom Events confirmation email and can use the code to join from a Zoom Room. They can also get the code when they are selecting how they want to join a session by using the Join option menu.
  • Support for billing and payments for recurring sessions events - Hosts can offer paid tickets for recurring sessions events. They can determine the registration option for all, one, or some sessions. Hosts can also choose to have either a Free or Paid recurring session and set this up under the Links and Event Access tab. When a host selects a Paid event, they can set the price for the event. Depending on what registration option is selected, they can set the price for all sessions or per session.

Zoom Whiteboard Updates

  • Whiteboard APIs - Whiteboard APIs have been released so users and third-party developers can extend and build applications for Whiteboard.
  • Support for Whiteboard charts and graphic tools - Users can easily create and present infographical data, summarize voting sessions, assess sentiment, and track project timelines directly on whiteboard using chart and graph object tools.
  • Improvements to Version history and Board activity - Several improvements have been made to the Version history and Board activity. Version history has now additional restore points which allows users to restore a page to its previous state, even if users have deleted it. Users also have the ability to right-click and duplicate, and select and copy objects from previous versions. Board activity only displays activities that involve adding or deleting objects, or editing text. All other actions are no longer displayed. Multiple activities by the same user are consolidated and activities occurring within the same minute are condensed.

Zoom Revenue Accelerator Updates

  • Enhancement to CRM team creation and management - The CRM integration functionality of Zoom Revenue Accelerator has been enhanced to provide greater control and flexibility in team creation and management. This includes the ability to create parent teams in addition to child teams independent of the prior CRM connection setting, disconnecting from CRM for manual team creation, receiving confirmation prompts for CRM integration changes affecting manually created teams, and ensuring flexibility during transitions between CRM solutions for future changes. This feature may not be immediately available.
  • Indicators language configuration support - Account owners and admins can configure language-specific Indicators and apply them to conversations transcribed in that language. For instance, Italian Indicators will only be applied to Italian conversations, which will provide a more relevant and actionable Analytics experience. Additionally, users can configure Indicators for all conversations, such as company names, regardless of the language. Furthermore, the new Add another language feature allows grouping of thematically similar Indicators across multiple languages, providing greater flexibility and efficiency in language-specific analysis. This feature may not be immediately available.

Zoom Virtual Agent Updates

  • Event based support - A new support channel type has been created, emitting events that brands can listen to, allowing them to continue the support escalation process with their preferred CRM and UI. This feature caters to new front-end chat integrations and addresses the needs of brands that prefer not to utilize embedded-agent-chat capabilities.
  • Third-party interface using Sunshine - Zoom Virtual Agent admin and account owners can integrate Zoom Virtual Agent as a bot with third-party interface using Sunshine, a popular 3rd party messaging platform. This integration allows Zoom Virtual Agent  to operate as a bot within the Sunshine Conversation interface, expanding its capabilities beyond the Zoom Virtual Agent web SDK.
