Zoom Updates February 2024

Zoom Learning Center Updates

  • Enhanced Zoom Events & Sessions training - The Zoom Learning Center recently updated its Zoom Events & Sessions catalog to capture the latest features and information. We’ve also added a brand new course, Managing Ticketing & Registration , to help you build a top-notch attendee experience.
  • Popular course alert! Our Team Chat course, Developing a Strong Chat Culture, has held a spot in our top five most popular courses since its launch last year, according to user survey results. Come see what all the fuss is about, and up your chat game in the meantime!

New Product Announcement

  • Introducing: Zoom for visionOS - This app allows users to join and participate in Zoom Meetings through their Vision Pro headset. Users can sign-in with their Zoom account (or create a new account), then see their upcoming meetings, details for their PMI, share meeting details with others, and join meetings as needed. When participating in a meeting, users can share their view of the visionOS UI (similar to screen sharing on the desktop client), send reactions, switch between Speaker and Gallery views, and easily transfer meetings between the desktop client, mobile app, and Vision Pro.

Service Announcements

  • Zoom Software Lifecycle Policy - We plan to enforce the next round of our Software Lifecycle Policy on May 4, 2024, for all products and services, starting with the minimum versions referenced in the table found here. Users running an end-of-life version after May 4 will not be able to join meetings via the Zoom Client and will be prompted to update or join from the Web browser. As always, we highly recommend you regularly download and update to the latest version of Zoom software by checking for updates within the Zoom desktop client or by navigating to zoom.us/download to take advantage of all our latest security and functionality features.

Zoom Web Updates

  • Full enablement of profanity filter - The transcription profanity filter is generally available for all customers and regions. The profanity filter prevents transcription from displaying inappropriate words. Account owners and admins can import widely available 3rd party lists, eliminating the need to manually curate offensive words, and enabling easy customization according to their organization's needs. This filter applies to all Zoom products utilizing transcription services, including Meetings, Webinars, Smart Summaries, and Recordings.

Zoom Events and Sessions Updates

  • Optimize registration for upcoming sessions in the recurring sessions event lobby - On the lobby page of a recurring session, attendees can register for an upcoming session or watch a previously recorded session without having to complete the entire registration flow. Attendees can click a button to register for or watch a recording.
  • Enable or disable Zoom Events Image Generation - Account owners and admins can enable or disable the Zoom Events Image Generation feature. When enabled, hosts can use Zoom AI to create images to use in their event. This feature is disabled by default.
  • Generate an image using Zoom AI Companion in Email Builder - When hosts view an existing image component or add a new image component in Email Builder, they can generate an image using Zoom AI Companion.
  • Add e-badge and QR code components to Email Builder - Components for e-badges and QR codes are added to Email Builder. Hosts can use these components for hybrid event check-ins. This feature is supported in the Pre-registration Confirmation, Free Ticket Confirmation, Paid Ticket Confirmation, and Event Reminder email templates. Previously, event attendees who were attending an in-person event had to retrieve the QR code in the Zoom Events Companion app to scan their tickets.
  • Customize global branding for hub profile page and all event details pages - Hub users can set up branding for all event detail pages (of events in the hub) and the hub profile page and enable or disable global branding, using the hub's centralized location, the Branding tab, for global settings. They can configure the color palette for the entire hub’s event detail pages and set it as the default. Once the default branding is set up, all the hub's content pages (hub profile, upcoming/draft/past event detail pages) will load the hub branding automatically by default. Event organizers can also store the event templates in the hub branding library.
  • Support caption settings for simulive sessions - Hosts can set the caption language for simulive webinars in Zoom Events. Attendees can use closed captions and translated captions when watching simulive sessions. This includes lobby live streaming of the webinar or simulive session.
Note: This feature may not be immediately available, as it is dependent on a backend server update.
