Enterprise Applications Internship Job Description

Summary

The Enterprise Applications internship is designed to provide exposure to a variety of application implementation and maintenance and custom development tasks that one would encounter in an entry application developer or systems analyst role. These include requirements gathering with users, application scope documentation, systems development and implementation, QA testing, and user support. In addition, each semester an intern will be required to complete one special development project that will provide valuable hands-on experience. This project will be jointly decided on taking into account the current needs of the University and each intern’s unique skill set.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Requirements gathering for proposed system development or enhancements
  • User support and training for Enterprise Applications
  • Custom report generation
  • Integration of systems using APIs
  • Special development project (will vary by semester and candidate’s skillset).
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Entry into a qualified undergraduate or graduate degree. Qualified degrees are as follows:
    • B.S.E Computer Engineering
    • B.S. Computer Science
    • B.S. Information Systems
    • B.S. Information Technology
  • 30 credits earned towards a qualified degree.
  • General computer literacy.
  • Introductory knowledge of SQL and at least one modern scripting language
  • Good communication skills (Verbal and Written).
  • Signed confidentiality agreement.

Timeframe

  • Year 1 – Internship (3 credits) @ 20/hrs. per week.
  • If the intern distinguishes themselves there is an option to continue employment as a student employee past the internship semester. 
  • Hours – between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Work Environment: Office location in Kindschi Hall of Science / Allendale Campus

Technology Provided: PC (Desktop or Laptop)

Supervision: Receives strategic and administrative direction from the Director, Enterprise Applications, and an Enterprise Applications team member.

Compensation: $15-$20 per hour

  1. Application Access Control, Secure application development practices.
  2. Implementation of Accessible applications.
  3. Report generation using custom SQL and visual report designer.
