Maintenance for the Valley Campus Building Network Connectivity system

Planned Network Maintenance - Mackinac Hall (MAK)

UPDATE 8/14/2026 4:15 p.m - Maintenance completed. All network services restored to MAK.

As part of GVSU’s commitment to modernizing, improving, and expanding network capacity, Information Technology will upgrade MAK network infrastructure in August. These upgrades will enhance connectivity, boost performance, and ensure reliable internet access for all users. 

Upgrade Scope: Replace aging fiber optic cables and network equipment.

Expected Impact: Both Wi-Fi and plugged in desktops computers connections will be temporarily unavailable.  

Timeframe:

• Thursday August 13, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.   C and D sections of MAK
• Friday August 14, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.     A and B Sections of MAK

If your wing is affected, you will not have internet access in your office. Please consider these options for that day:

• Work remotely from home.
• Work from an unaffected wing in the MAK building.
• Move to another open space on campus.
