Grand Valley to host traditional pow wow

An event to increase awareness about Native American traditions and culture through ceremony, song and dance will take place April 9-10 at Grand Valley State University. 

The 18th annual Celebrating All Walks of Life Traditional Pow Wow will take place in the Fieldhouse on the Allendale Campus. Hundreds of people are expected to attend, including people from Native American communities in the Upper Peninsula, Indiana and Wisconsin. 

The event will celebrate traditional Native American dancing and music with Grand Entry performances at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. on April 9 and at noon on April 10. Native American art, jewelry and cuisine will be available to purchase throughout the day.

The event is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Native American Student Association and Office of Multicultural Affairs at Grand Valley.
