The campus community enjoyed an afternoon of the centuries-old tradition of combining tea parties with conversations about politics and literature March 31 in the Kirkhof Center.

Sponsored by the Women's Center, the 13th annual EqualiTEA featured a theatrical adaptation performance of Claudia Rankine's "Citizen: An American Lyric" by students and faculty members in the School of Social Work.

This year's honoree was Lois Smith Owens, director of recruitment and admissions for Social Work. Owens has been teaching at Grand Valley since 1998. She is a playwright, actress and director, and is involved in community organizations, including New Life Shelters, Grand Valley Women's Commission and National Black Police Association.

EqualiTEA was among the events celebrating March as Women’s History Month. For more information, visit www.gvsu.edu/women_cen.
