Winter Break Information

Fall semester Final Exams end on Friday, December 15 and Winter semester classes begin on Monday, January 8. On campus housing buildings close at 10pm on Friday, December 15 and re-open at 8am on Saturday, January 6. All University offices are closed Friday, December 22 through Tuesday, January 2.

Before you leave and enjoy your winter break, for health, safety, and security, please do the following: 

  •  Empty all trash bins and recycling.  Bring bags to the trash room/dumpster
  •  Discard any perishable food items that may spoil prior to your return
  •  Shut and lock windows and close your blinds
  •  Shut and lock unit door
  •  Turn off all faucets in the kitchen and bathroom and flush toilet
  •  Unplug all electronics (except refrigerator) and turn off all lights
  •  Turn down your thermostat to 55 - do not turn off
  •  Remove any valuable items

Extended Stay & Break Stay Sign-Up

Living in Housing for winter semester, but will be in your unit at some point over the break?

If you are a continuing student and will be in your unit any time between 10pm Friday, December 15 and 8am Saturday, January 6, please complete the following steps:

1) Log in to myBanner
2) Select myHousing
3) Select Personal Information
4) Select Update Information
5) For Select a Term, choose Fall 2017 from the drop down
6) Answer the question about Winter Break
7) Hit Submit


NOT returning for winter semester, but need to stay in your unit past 10pm Friday, December 18?

If you are NOT going to be living on campus for the Winter semester and need to be in your unit any time after 10pm Friday, December 15, submission of a EXTENDED STAY FORM is required. Extended Stay Forms must be submitted by Monday, December 11 to your front desk (pick this form up from your Living Center Director). You are NOT guaranteed permission to stay- the department of Housing and Residence Life reserves the right to grant or deny any Extended Stay request.

Note: If you are NOT returning to on-campus Housing for the winter semester, please review the cancel process, complete a Contract Release Form, submit the Contract Release Form to your Living Center Director by December 1, and review proper checkout information
