GVSU students earn $35 million in state scholarship funding

Grand Valley students received a total of $35.2 million from the Michigan Achievement Scholarship, the second-highest amount awarded to students who attend one of the state's public universities.

The Michigan Achievement Scholarship, administered by the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLEAP), noted that 6,737 Grand Valley students received an average of $5,235 per year.

B. Donta Truss, vice president for Enrollment Development and College Futures, said the scholarship numbers provided by MiLEAP demonstrate how well Grand Valley's Financial Aid office engages with students and encourages them to complete the FAFSA.

"The Michigan Achievement Scholarship is making a meaningful difference for thousands of Grand Valley students and their families," Truss said. "These numbers reflect not only the value of the state's investment in higher education, but also the dedication of our Financial Aid team, which works tirelessly to help students understand their options, complete the FAFSA and access every dollar of aid available to them."
