Lihong (Heidi) Jiao, head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, works with semiconductor materials inside the Kennedy Hall Engineering building’s Solid State Material Lab clean room on July 10. The room is illuminated with filtered yellow light - achieved with yellow fluorescent tubes - which is used in clean rooms where photolithography is performed, a process essential to microchip and semiconductor manufacturing.
