GVSU ranks among country's best employers on Forbes list

Grand Valley State University has been ranked as one of the country's Best Employers for 2022, according to Forbes.

The list of America’s Best Employers was released February 10. Grand Valley was ranked among the top 500 mid-size employers, with 1,000-4,999 employees.

“This recognition is a positive acknowledgement of the culture we have at Grand Valley State,” said GVSU President Philomena V. Mantella. “Our employees recognize they are in a positive environment in which their skills and experience are appreciated as we pursue a joint vision for the university’s future. This is a proud moment for all of us.”

Mychal Coleman, GVSU associate vice president for Human Resources, said this national recognition will give the university a competitive advantage on multiple fronts.

"GVSU has been named one of the best places to work in Michigan. National recognition, like this from Forbes, gives GVSU a distinction as an employer of choice, a world-class employer," Coleman said. "On multiple fronts, from retention to recruitment to leadership development, this acknowledgement from Forbes presents advantages for attracting new employees and increasing engagement among current employees."

Forbes and Statista selected the best employers through an independent survey applied to a vast sample of approximately 60,000 American employees working for companies with more than 1,000 employees in America. The evaluation was based on direct and indirect recommendations from employees who were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family.
