Grand Valley was ranked among the top employers in Michigan by Forbes in its 2022 list of America's best employers.

Forbes on August 24 released its "America's Best Employers by State," which ranks the best 75 employers in Michigan. Forbes worked with a marketing research firm to evaluate employers on criteria such as pay, working conditions and equity and inclusion.

The list was compiled by surveying 70,000 people working for businesses with at least 500 employees.

President Philomena V. Mantella said the recognition for Grand Valley State University is notable given the challenges in higher education and from a global pandemic.

"Grand Valley's employees appreciate the university and its educational mission and work every day to provide a great learning and living environment for our students," Mantella said.

Grand Valley has about 1,230 faculty members and more than 1,880 support staff members.
