The eighth annual Teach-In at Grand Valley will be offered virtually, yet remain true to its mission of providing engaging and thoughtful discussions on topics centered around social justice.

The Teach-In is Wednesday, November 11, with sessions from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Visit gvsu.edu/teach-in to view the session schedule and register. Deadline to register for a session is Monday, November 9.

Josita Maouene-Cavin, associate professor of psychology, is co-chair of University Academic Senate's Equity and Inclusion Committee and among the organizers of this year's event. Maouene-Cavin said the event will be presented on Whova, a platform that integrates with Zoom. Participants will register with their GVSU email addresses and be invited into a session's waiting room.

Relando Thompkins-Jones, director of Social Justice Education and a Teach-In co-chair, said the session list is robust because of the need for continued discussion on these issues.

"In some ways, this type of engagement is more important than ever," Thompkins-Jones said. "Our commitment to our values of inclusion and equity, through racial and social justice efforts, remains strong. While hosting the Teach-In virtually is new to us, we are excited about how it enables greater access and participation for all in the GVSU community."

The Teach-In is hosted by University Academic Senate and Student Senate, with support from the Division of Inclusion and Equity, Provost's Office and Dean of Students Office.
