OCDPH uses Holland Campus to give initial vaccinations
Jeff Potter, a firefighter and EMT from Zeeland, was the first person to receive the COVID-19 vaccination at Grand Valley's Meijer Campus in Holland December 17.
Representatives from the Ottawa County Department of Public Health used the campus, on South Waverly Drive in Holland, to vaccinate frontline workers with the Pfizer vaccine. OCDPH employees will continue to be there early into next week to vaccinate county emergency services and law enforcement personnel.
Lisa Stefanovsky, health officer, said the Pfizer vaccine is more than 90 percent effective against the virus. "Our goal is to vaccinate 70 percent of our adult population and I know we can do it together," she said.

Greg Sanial, vice president for Finance and Administration, said the OCDPH has been a good partner with Grand Valley since the beginning of the pandemic, making it an easy decision to offer up space at the Holland Campus for vaccinations.
A consortium of West Michigan health departments, hospitals, health care providers, universities and other organizations have launched www.VaccinateWestMI.com, providing area residents with the latest information about the COVID-19 vaccine.
