Jessica Fillmore, a senior majoring in marketing, was named the 2019 Homecoming Regent.

Nominated by a good friend and co-worker, Fillmore completed an interview process for regent, responded to various prompts, and attended all of the homecoming events.

“It was a lot of fun,” Fillmore said. “Getting to know the other regents was really awesome. There were a lot of people who I didn’t know involved in a lot of different organizations on campus.”

She is also president of Campus Activities Board, the student organization for planning events, and a programming staff assistant for the Office of Student Life,

Although the rainy weather dampened the October 26 homecoming game, Fillmore still made the most of it.

“It was relentless rain, but we were all in good spirits and it was really fun to be there,” she said. “My friends and family came out to support so that was a lot of fun.”

Fillmore graduates in 2020 and is in the process of applying to graduate schools to pursue a master’s degree in higher education. She would like to work in student affairs.

If there’s one piece of advice Fillmore can give to students as regent, it is to be active on campus.

“I really just like to plug getting involved,” she said. “It changed my college experience so much, and I love to see our CAB events with a lot of first-year students attending, and them saying, ‘I met all of my friends here.' I just say, get involved.”
