Anne Hiskes, retiring dean of the Brooks College of Interdisciplinary Studies, will present the final HerStory of the academic year on Thursday, April 18.

Sponsored by the Women's Commission, Hiskes' presentation will begin at noon in the Kirkhof Center, rooms 2215-2216. The campus community is invited, no registration is necessary.

Hiskes will step down from the dean position at the end of the academic year. She was named dean of Brooks College in 2012; she joined Grand Valley after serving as interim associate dean for interdisciplinary programs and faculty development at the University of Connecticut.

While at Grand Valley, Hiskes provided leadership to expand Brooks College's community connections, interdisciplinary programs and courses, and raise its national profile through the Sustainable Agriculture Project and Padnos/Sarosik Civil Discourse Initiative.

The HerStory series offers opportunities for the campus community to hear from people in leadership positions; nominations are taken online at gvsu.edu/wcommission.
