Grand Valley's annual United Way campaign has been recognized for excellence and team spirit by Heart of West Michigan United Way and the Greater Ottawa County United Way.

Heart of West Michigan United Way presented a "Team Spirit" award to the campaign committee for ongoing efforts to implement an online giving option for students, faculty and staff. They also cited a consistently high participation rate and the empowerment of department captains as helpful aspects of the campaign.

Grand Valley's campaign committee was also recognized with a "Silver Award" by the Greater Ottawa County United Way for outstanding service to the people of Ottawa County.

The campaign is led by co-chairs Lindsay Ellis and David Bair; committee members are Barbie Young, Nate Hoekstra, and Ricardo Benavidez. The 2018 campaign was also supported by Cheryl Kotecki and Brian Van Doeselaar.
