Campus women to be recognized at annual awards ceremony

Students, faculty and staff members will be recognized for their positive impact on campus during the annual Celebrating Women Awards, set for Wednesday, March 27, in the Kirkhof Center.

The event is sponsored by the Women's Commission, in conjunction with the Gayle R. Davis Center for Women and Gender Equity; Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies; and Positive Black Women.

The Women's Commission will present awards to the following people.

• Amanda Syers, project assistant for the College of Education's Center for Educational Partnerships, Emerging Professional Award;

• Mary Karpen, professor of chemistry, Maxine Swanson Award;

• Bonnie Peterson, office coordinator for TRIO Upward Bound, Unsung Hero Award; and

• Susan Howard, assistant director of communications, Alumni Relations, Community Impact Award.

Special recognition is planned for Marcia Haas, and Positive Black Women and the Center for Women and Gender Equity will present scholarships and awards to students.
