Today: GVSU students hosting vigil for Parkland shooting victims

Grand Valley State University's Student Senate is hosting a vigil February 21 to honor victims of the Parkland, Florida, high school shooting. 

The vigil will start at 6 p.m. at the Cook Carillon Tower on the Allendale Campus. Maria Cimitile, provost and executive vice president for Academic and Student Affairs, and Jonathan Bowman, president of Student Senate, will make remarks. 

At the event, students will raise donations for relief efforts for victims and their families. 

On February 14, 17 people were killed in a mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
