Today: GVSU students holding vigil for synagogue shooting victims

Students from two Jewish campus organizations at Grand Valley State University are hosting a candlelight vigil October 29 to remember victims of the Tree of Life synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh.  

The vigil, organized by the Grand Valley Hillel Chapter and Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity, will start at 7:15 p.m. at the Cook Carillon Tower on the Allendale Campus. Grand Valley President Thomas J. Haas, Provost Maria Cimitile, Dean of Students Loren Rullman and several students and staff members will give remarks.

A community space for dialogue and support has been organized for October 29 at 2 p.m. in Grand Valley's Office of Multicultural Affairs, located in room 1240 of the Kirkhof Center on the Allendale Campus. 

On October 27, 11 people were killed in a mass shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. 

Hillel is an international Jewish campus organization, and AEPi is an international Jewish leadership fraternity.
