Goodwill of Grand Rapids CEO Emeritus to discuss leadership lessons

Kathy Crosby started as an employee of Goodwill in 1980 as an office clerk. More than 30 years and many leadership lessons later, she's now the CEO Emeritus of an organization that provides opportunities for transformation through work to many individuals in West Michigan.

Crosby hasn't just been an effective CEO, she was recognized as a premier leader in West Michigan with an Athena Award from the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce in 2011. 

Crosby will speak on Friday, November 30 at 4 p.m. as the final speaker of the 2018 Wheelhouse Talks, a series of leadership-focused presentations hosted by the Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies at Grand Valley. 

She will discuss the challenges she faced returning to college as a non-traditional student and the experiences she has had leading an organization that serves to provide individuals with work skills and avenues to career advancement.

Crosby earned an undergraduate and master's degree from Siena Heights University and won a scholarship to the University of Maryland Smith School of Business after she transferred to the Bethesda, Maryland branch of Goodwill in the 1990s, where she earned her executive MBA.
