Campus mourns death of computing faculty member

Joseph Hornik, instructor and internship coordinator for the School of Computing and Information Systems, died October 25 after a short illness. He was 69.

Hornik began working for Grand Valley in 1999. Paul Leidig, director and professor of CIS, said Hornik managed the school's internship program and touched the lives of many students, faculty and staff members.

A memorial service is set for Friday, November 2, from 5-8 p.m. at Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton St. in Grand Rapids. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 3, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 406 Savidge St. in Spring Lake.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Legion Post No. 28 in Grand Haven.
