The Grand Valley Writers Series concludes with an award-winning poet visiting Grand Valley's Pew Grand Rapids Campus March 28 to share some of his most popular works.

Jericho Brown, associate professor of English and creative writing at Emory University, will present his work and participate in a book signing, from 7:30-8:45 p.m. in the University Club, located in the DeVos Center. His presentation will be preceded by a craft talk from 6-7 p.m. in the DeVos Center, room 203E.

Brown is the recipient of the Whiting Writers Award and fellowships from the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University and the National Endowment for the Arts. The New Republic, The New Yorker and The Best American Poetry have all featured Brown's poetry in the past. His first book, Please, won an American Book Award, and his second book, The New Testament, won the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award. The New Testament was also named one of the best books of the year by Library Journal, Coldfront and the Academy of American Poets.

This event is sponsored by the African and African American Studies program within the Area Studies Department.
