Multiple campus departments have teamed to sponsor a presentation by a musician from Uganda who uses music as an avenue to bring a message of healing, hope and peace.

"Samite: Lessons of Humanity, What My Grandfather Taught Me" will be held October 11, 8 p.m. in the DeVos Center, Loosemore Auditorium.

The event, which is approved for LIB 100 courses, is free and open to the public.

In 2002, Samite founded Musicians for World Harmony, an organization that supports musicians throughout the world and shares their music to promote peace. He travels globally for performances and often meets with victims of war, poverty and HIV/AIDS.

His presentation is sponsored by the School of Communications, Area and Global Studies, African/African American Studies, and the Human Rights minor.
