WGVU Newsmakers: The World of Dr. Seuss  received a Michigan Emmy Award from The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences at the 37th  Emmy Gala June 13 at the MotorCity Casino in Detroit.

Newsmakers: The World of Dr. Seuss was created by Patrick Center, news director; Philip Lane, production manager; Zach Liniewski, production assistant; Ken Kolbe, assistant general manager; and Michael T. Walenta, WGVU general manager.

The program consisted of an interview with Bill Dreyer, curator of the "Hats Off to Dr. Seuss!" international traveling exhibit, focusing on the private art collection that Seuss' wife donated after he died.

Shot on-location at the Holland Area Arts Council in April 2014, the "Hats Off to Dr. Seuss!" exhibit travels to about 12 locations throughout the world each year. The program now plays as part of the exhibit.

“I'm so very proud to have WGVU enjoy the spotlight for some of the quality work we create,” said Michael T. Walenta, WGVU Public Media general manager. “It’s wonderful when some of our very talented professional staff can be recognized by industry peers for work that stands above the rest."
