Veterans and heroes will be honored at the WGVU Engage Celebration of Service on Saturday, October 17, on Grand Valley's Allendale Campus.
The free event, presented by Uniform Color Company, will take place at the Kelly Family Sports Center, from 4-6 p.m., before the Laker football game against Michigan Tech. A reception begins at 3:30 p.m.
First responders, active military members, veterans and their families can enjoy a free tailgate and a ticket to the football game. The event will feature first responder vehicles and displays, a Medal of Honor Tribute and family activities with Clifford the Big Red Dog from PBS Kids.

The event also includes a free screening of "Debt of Honor," a documentary by award-winning filmmaker Ric Burns that highlights struggles and triumphs of disabled veterans in American history. The film begins at 4 p.m. with a panel discussion featuring Ric Burns at 5:15 p.m.
