Kate Harmon, director of Campus Recreation, was interviewed by several media outlets for stories about the expansion of the Recreation Center.
Terry Pahl, facilities engineer, was interviewed by WOOD-TV for a story about the solar energy garden to be built by Consumers Energy on the Allendale Campus.
Paul Stansbie, associate dean for the College of Community and Public Service, was interviewed by WalletHub.com for a story about July 4 celebrations.
Erik Nordman, associate professor of national resources management, wrote a guest commentary for Bridge Magazine about ways Michigan can save money while reducing greenhouse gases.

Amy Russell, associate professor of biology, wrote articles, "Two Tickets to Paradise: Multiple Dispersal Events in the Founding of Hoary Bat Populations in Hawaii," published in PLoS ONE; and "Genetic Approaches to the Conservation of Migratory Bats: a Study of the Eastern Red Bat," published in PeerJ.
Biology professors Michael P. Lombardo and Patrick A. Thorpe, and Sango Otieno, associate professor of statistics, contributed to an article, "Feather-Chewing Lice and Tree Swallow Biology," published in the Auk: Ornithological Advances.
Steven Lipnicki, assistant dean of students and co-chair of Grand Valley’s Veterans Network, gave presentations, “Preparing Veteran Students for Careers,” at the Consortium of Michigan Veteran Educators Conference in Traverse City; and, “Assisting Student Veterans with Post-Military Careers,” at the Michigan Career Educator and Employer Alliance Annual Conference in Grand Rapids.
Salvatore Alaimo, assistant professor of public, nonprofit and health administration, gave a series of guest lectures at Beijing Normal University. Topics included international nongovernmental organizations, nonprofit management, volunteer management and the history of philanthropy in the U.S.
