Chris Harper, affiliate instructor of accounting, was interviewed by WZZM-TV during April for a series of stories on financial literacy for different stages of life.

Frank Boring, affiliate professor of communications, was interviewed by WZZM-TV for a story about an event in Grand Haven focused on the GVSU Veterans History Project.

Brian Kingshott, associate professor of criminal justice, was a spotlight guest for “Feel Like You Belong.”

Gregg Dimkoff, professor of finance, was interviewed by WOOD-TV for a story about Michigan’s no-fault auto insurance law.

Sketches

Evelyn Clingerman, executive director of the Bonnie Wesorick Center for Health Care Transformation, was appointed to the board of directors of the Migrant Clinicians Network. The nonprofit organization is dedicated to health justice for the mobile poor, creating practical solutions at the intersections of poverty, migration and health.

Annis Water Resources Institute staff members Al Steinman and Mary Ogdahl co-wrote an article, “TMDL Reevaluation: Reconciling Internal Phosphorus Load Reductions in a Eutrophic Lake,” published in Lake and Reservoir Management.

David Leonard, professor of chemistry, earned a $401,272 grant from the National Institutes of Health for a project, “Biochemical and Structural Analysis of Emerging Resistance Threats in Acinetobacter Baumannii.”

Patricia Clark, professor of writing, wrote a poem, “The Slit,” published in the March/April 2015 issue of the Kenyon Review, and another, “Hardwoods,” published in Auburn University’s Southern Humanities Review.

Mary Schutten, associate dean of CLAS, received the Anita Aldrich Distinguished Alumni Award from the Indiana University School of Public Health.
 
Peimin Ni, professor of philosophy, earned the Dao Annual Best Essay Award for his essay, “Seek and You Will Find It; Let Go and You Will Lose It: Exploring a Confucian Approach to Human Dignity,” published in Dao.

Mark Luttenton, professor of biology, received a grant from Trout Unlimited for a project, “Fine Scale Thermal Regulation and Bioenergetics of Brook Trout in Cedar Creek.”

Andrew Lantz, assistant professor of chemistry, received a grant from Vinazene for a project, “High Energy Density Non-aqueous Pseudocapacitors.”

Brandon Youker, assistant professor of social work, and graduate students gave a workshop, “Evaluation 101: How to Know Your Program is Amazing,” at the National Association of Social Workers-Michigan Annual Conference in Kalamazoo.

Jennifer Moore, assistant professor of biology, received a grant from Pierce Cedar Creek Institute for a project, “Implications of Effective Population Size and Demography in Three Populations of Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnakes.”
