Registration open for leadership reception
Registration is open for the Venderbush Leadership Lecture, a
biannual event that recognizes student leadership on campus.
The winter reception will take place on Monday, March 17, at 2
p.m. in the multipurpose room of the Mary Idema Pew Library. Register
by March 14 at www.gvsu.edu/leadership.
State Representative Winnie Brinks will provide the keynote
presentation. An advocate for education and job creation, Brinks is
serving her first term as a representative for Michigan’s 76th House
District. Brinks previously served as executive director of The One
Way House, a community-based corrections agency, and as a caseworker
at The Source in Grand Rapids, where she worked with businesses and
nonprofits to improve workplaces. She received a bachelor’s degree in
Spanish with a concentration in sociology from Calvin College.
Each semester the Office of Student Life hosts a reception and
lecture in honor of Kenneth R. Venderbush, who came to Grand Valley in
1969 and served as associate professor, dean of William James College
and vice president of Student Affairs during his time at the university.
New members of Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honorary
will be recognized and the Student Organization Center will present
the Immediate Impact Award.
