GRPS students attend class inside a balloon

The classroom walls and ceiling were bursting with color for
students at Stocking Elementary School in the Grand Rapids Public
School District, as they attended class in a hot air balloon.
The school assembly, offered by Ballooning4Education, took place
October 31 and was made possible through an education partnership
between Grand Valley’s College of Education and WGVU Public Media.
Students had the opportunity to learn about science, history,
weather and flight experiences from the presenter, Mike Nelson, who is
a commercial pilot.
