An alumnus will return to campus to give a presentation on his work as an educator in an immigrant neighborhood in Chicago.

Tony Nelson graduated in 2003 and works at Centro Autonomo, a bilingual adult high school in the Albany Park neighborhood. Nelson’s presentation, “We Question While We Walk: Building Community Through Popular Education,” is set for Friday, October 3, from 7-8:30p.m. in Kirkhof Center, rooms 2215/2216.

Popular education has strong roots in Latin America and focuses on the process to empower people who feel socially and politically marginalized.
