Share Knowledge Bike Tour coming to GVSU
Max Peer, an avid cyclist, is on a four-year, 35,000 mile bike and
canoe journey to promote open access to quality educational materials.
He will make a stop at Grand Valley State University’s Pew Grand
Rapids Campus July 22, where he will be greeted by students, faculty
and staff from the Seidman College of Business, among others.
Peer’s journey, called the Share the Knowledge Bike Tour, is
sponsored by SAP University Alliances and Interaction Design
Foundation, an organization that provides free textbooks and online
education materials created by leading academics and practitioners of
software design. Peer began his world-wide journey in Orlando,
Florida, in May and over the next six months, will bike and canoe more
than 6,000 miles, visiting universities across North America.
During his stop at Grand Valley, Peer will talk about how to get
free access to textbooks, images, and videos made by the world’s
technology elite. “My goal for this trip is to promote open access to
quality educational materials,” said Peer. “Education is the single
most powerful way to lift people out of poverty and change lives.”
