New event will remember Lakers
The Laker Traditions Team in Student Life is organizing a new campus
event to remember students, alumni, faculty and staff members who have
died in the past year.
Laker Remembrance will take place Thursday, October 10, at 8 p.m.
at the Cook Carillon Tower on the Allendale Campus. It is open to the
campus community.
Crossbow, a student Celtic band, and Euphoria, an acapella group,
will perform songs. Student Senate President Ricky Benavidez will
emcee the night that will include readings and a vigil. The Cook
Carillon Tower will chime once in memoriam for each person.
LeaAnn Tibbe, assistant director of Student Life, said the event
idea came about during a Laker Traditions Team brainstorm session last
spring. The team is hoping to make this an annual event.
