Grand Valley welcomes all to new library Open House
A Community Open House of the Mary Idema Pew Library Learning and
Information Commons is planned to showcase the newest facility at
Grand Valley State University’s Allendale Campus.
Already gaining national recognition as an innovative model for
21st Century learning, the new library will be open to the public on
Saturday, September 7 from 1-5 p.m.
This family-friendly event will include self-guided tours in the
library, a jazz musician, magic shows, a scavenger hunt and refreshments.
“Librarians from other universities across the state have said we
have the best academic library in the country,” said University
Libraries Dean Lee Van Orsdel. “National recognition is mounting
because the facility is clearly about the students and how Grand
Valley can help them build the skills they need to flourish while
they’re here and long after they have gone out into the world to make
it a better place.”
The Mary Idema Pew Library is located at the intersection of
Campus Drive and West Campus Drive near the Cook Carillon Tower. GVSU
Route 50 Campus Connector bus service has been extended to run every
15-20 minutes between noon and 6 p.m. on September 7.
Library visitors can stay on campus for the GVSU football season
opener at 7 p.m. against Azusa Pacific. Football ticket information
can be found at www.gvsulakers.com
