Film festival highlights Latin America

Grand Valley joins other area colleges and universities to present the fourth annual Grand Rapids Latin American Film Festival.

Events kick off April 4 with a screening of “Abel,” a Mexican film, at Celebration Cinema North.

Films continue April 5-7 at Wealthy Theatre in Grand Rapids. The festival is free and open to the public; view the films and more information online at www.grlaff.org. The festival will include screenings of 14 films that focus on a wide range of contemporary subjects. Directors of two films will give a presentation on April 6 at the theater at 7 p.m.

The festival is also sponsored by Aquinas College, Calvin College, Davenport University and Ferris State University. Other sponsors include the Mexican Consulate in Detroit, and Chicago consulate offices of Argentina, Venezuela and Brazil.
